Sweepers
“Now, sweepers sweepers, man your brooms. Give the ship a clean sweep down both fore and aft…” The Navy and Coast Guard do daily clean-ups at the end of each workday called “sweepers”. It is not meant to be too thorough but enough to maintain a sense of cleanliness throughout the ship. That is why I call my basic detail package, Sweepers. Maybe your car doesn’t have any stains on the carpet or oxidization in the paint. Perhaps it’s had a paint correction recently but it has since been made dirty. That’s when a sweepers package is right for you.
Sweepers gives you:
Interior- vacuum, any pet hair removed, dash/console cleaned, windows
Exterior- wash, clay bar, wax/paint sealant, wheels/tires, windows
Field Day
When I was in the Coast Guard, every week or so we had to perform a much more thorough cleaning evolution called a “Field day”. Field days took between 3 and 5 hours, sometimes all day! The point of a field day is to not only clean what is visible but also clean under, behind, and overhead… everything. This is why I call my deluxe package, the Field Day. Maybe your car’s body paint has spider webbing or swirl marks. Maybe the carpet or upholstery has taken on a whole different color than when it was new.
The Field Day gives you everything a sweepers does plus:
Interior- carpet/upholstery shampoo/extraction, stains removed
Exterior- paint correction; polish and glaze buffing to remove clear-coat oxidation and spiderwebbing.
